    1) Buy one.
    2) Hook it to your television.
    3) Install the WatchESPN channel.
    4) Tell the WatchESPN channel who your cable provider is (Cox or Uverse).

Enjoy watching the Shockers play in high def, regardless whether you are on Cox or Uverse. I believe you could even take your Roku with you if you are traveling and STILL watch them live even if you are not home. Sit in your hotel anywhere in the country and watch the Shockers with your Roku.

The cheapest Roku, at Walmart stores, is like $58. Not per month. One time purchase. Even the cheapest one is HD I believe.

    Roku.
Can you see the blacked out games with Roku?

Were you both using the same wifi connection? If she is pulling the signal through her cell carrier it would be coming from where ever your provider has their internet services set up. Its ridiculous KC gets blacked out when we can't get anything out of Wichita up here.

It could be that the IP address on your phone made it look like it was from another state, so it wasn't subjected to the blackout.

I live in NW Arkansas and eveytime it is blacked out in KS and MO we get blacked out here. Needless to say I dont to see many games since I dont have cable. Radio is good, but everytime I see that the game is on espn3 I get my hopes up but it's usually always blacked out.

Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem ...

We are Cox customers so we can watch Cox22 at home. I am often on the road outside of Kansas and want to watch these Cox22 games on ESPN3 when available. The first time I started the WatchESPN app on my phone, I was asked who my cable provider is and to log into my Cox account.

Now, the games that are blacked-out on ESPN3 in the Cox service area are blacked-out on my phone, too. Is there a way to beat this system?

THIS, THIS, THIS!!! I travel the state to see family and go to communities in which COX will never, ever provide service, so a great part of the state has no, zero, nada ability to watch the game due to the statewide blackout. I will forgive COX if they are offering these other providers a reasonable package price to air the games on their cable system and the providers are opting not to pay. This is more than just basketball, but marketing for the university as a whole.

If you are in a community that has COX, but you choose to have a different TV system, that is your choice. We would all love a more universally available system, but right now the problem is some don't even have a choice.

Same deal with radio. 1330 AM reaches all the way west to practically Cheney.

Time Warner broadcasts the cox 22 games on Metro Sports.

I am sorry to ask this, but here goes anyway. I will be in a hotel room on the east coast during the game time. Does my hotel have to have ESPN approved internet service to watch the game?

I have tried running through a proxy server outside of KS in order to side step the blackout on ESPN3. This has worked but not well. Usually I just get frustrated and revert to other methods.

not if you have an approved isp you can log in with.

Do you mean my home provider (which is AT&T)?

Yes. Use a laptop and go to the espn.com website (not the watchESPN app). Then click on the game and click "watch now". It may ask for your isp/login/pw. Entering this info will let you through the first layer of defense. If you are on the east coast the espn site should show you are on a server outside of the "black-out" and let you in. I have had issues with the watchESPN app, and that is why I advise you use a laptop and go the espn.com main website to gain access.

I have been going through the hassle of gaining access to Watch ESPN and I have failed....miserably.

There are three ATT divisions for internet, telephone and television services , which are generally described as the follows:

                                ATT.net
                                ATT.com
                                ATT U-Verse

Only ATT U-Verse provides a qualifying I.S.P. service for access to Watch ESPN. The others, ATT.net and ATT.com, do not qualify.

My internet service is with ATT.com. After many phone calls to ATT and ESPN, the above was finally explained to me. Only ATT U-Verse provides a qualifying I.S.P.

There are work-arounds for now, but I imagine it is only a matter of time, before ESPN plugs the holes.

My situation was worsened, when I learned ATT U-Verse is not available in my location.

This is a major issue for sports fans. ESPN is rapidly becoming the big gorilla in the telecast of sports and particularly college basketball games.
